Prof. Mikheeva is engaged in scientific research in the field of civil and family law. She has drafted numerous federal laws, primarily in the sphere of civil legislation. She is still actively involved in law drafting, and her sphere of interest lies in the private law domain. Prof. Mikheeva has been participating in the work on reforming the Civil Code of the Russian Federation since 2008.

 

Additionally, she is a member of the scientific advisory councils under the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the Federal Notary Chamber of Russia, where she takes part in writing analytical and guidance papers on legal matters.


Lydia Mikheeva was born on May 17, 1971, in Barnaul. She graduated from the faculty of Law of Altay State University in 1993. In 1998, Prof. Mikheeva presented her PhD thesis at Tomsk State University, and there in 2003, she was also awarded a doctorate degree in Civil Law.


In 1993-2003, she worked as a teacher, then as an Associate Professor of the Civil Law Department of Altay State University, and a legal officer in private business.

 

In 2003-2006, Prof. Mikheeva worked as a Professor and then as Head of the Civil Law Department of the Russian Law Academy of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.

 

Since 2004 she has been a lecturer at the Russian School of Private Law.


In 2008-2010, Prof. Mikheeva held the position of Deputy Chief of Staff at the State Duma Committee on Civil, Criminal, Arbitration, and Procedural Legislation.


Lydia Mikheeva started working at the Private Law Research Centre as a consultant in 2006. In 2010, she was appointed as Deputy Chair of the Private Law Research Center’s Council. Since 2019 Prof. Mikheeva has been Chair of the Council (Head) of the Private Law Research Centre.


By now, Lydia Mikheeva has authored over 180 research papers on Law, including monographs and comments on legislative acts. She is the author of monographs on asset management and guardianship issues.
